Ernst first began composing music at the age of 14, but it was not until 2005 that he started conducting these compositions in a more serious and structured manner. Ernst initially discovered Rupert in 2014, through reading about him by coincidence. This initial discovery was soon followed by finding his videos on YouTube.
Ernst was inspired to dedicate this piece of music to Rupert because he believed that the simplicity and serenity of the music reflected his teaching approach. Ernst first wrote the Prelude in E Major in 2007, but in 2018 he revisited this piece of music, and made considerable changes.
While Rupert wasn’t the first non-dual teacher that Ernst had come across, he was the one whom he preferred, due to him being to the point, as well as considerate and sensitive to each individual he was teaching. Alongside recording The Prelude in E Major, Ernst has also been working on two other piano pieces.
