In this mediation, we allow experience to be exactly as it is without any impulse to change it. This doesn’t require effort, nor the cessation of effort. We contemplate the full spectrum of our experience with disinterested, affectionate attention. There is nothing to gain from its appearance, and nothing to lose from its disappearance. Be aware of any expectation. The phrase ‘the search for enlightenment’ is a great misnomer, responsible for great misunderstanding. We cannot search for what we are, only for what we are not. The search for God is the denial of God, and that is blasphemy. Meditation is not something we do, or cease doing. It is simply what we are. True meditation never begins or ends.
