The Search for Happiness Is the Veiling of Happiness

In this meditation we are asked to allow everything to be as it is from moment to moment, understanding and feeling our self as that allowing openness. Disturbing thoughts and agitated feelings may arise, but they are arising in this aware openness, and we are free either to identify our self with them or to know and feel our self as this completely allowing openness. This welcoming presence does not need anything from experience because it lacks nothing, and the absence of a sense of lack is happiness. Happiness is not a feeling; it is the background of all feelings, and what we already are. Thus, happiness cannot be sought; it can only be recognised.
