The fact of being pervades all experience irrespective of content. In this meditation, we invite being into the foreground so the content of experience recedes into the background. Eventually, the distinction between foreground and background loses its meaning and all experience is permeated with God's presence. The being that we are cannot be contained within the boundaries of the person we seem to be and flows into the world as love. Christian mystics call this practising the presence of God, or in the Tantric tradition, self-abidance. In the West, this saturation of experience with God's presence is known as the transfiguration. Our yoga meditations are its counterpart in the East, dissolving the felt sense of the body into the transparent, infinite being. What remains is a quivering vibration, pulsating in a borderless, luminous space.
