The Teachers of God Foundation (TGF), is an organisation set up to discuss and communicate the application of A Course in Miracles in practical life. This video is a recording of a webinar organised by TGF in June 2017 to introduce Rupert’s teaching to the TGF community and answer some of their questions.
Rupert starts by explaining what he means by ‘awareness’ and ‘knowing’. He shows how feelings such as depression are not characteristics of oneself. Our true self remains unaffected by experience.
When awareness seems to be veiled by the drama of experience, the most direct route back to the joy of our true nature is to ask oneself a simple question that can take us there immediately. We need to do this over and over again in order to overcome the well-established habit of losing ourselves in experience. It’s more like inviting the mind to sink back into its essence, rather than fighting the mind or trying to control it. In time a new habit is formed, and we come to reside as our essential self all the time. At first it might feel like a neutral experience, but later the qualities of peace and joy come to the surface.
Lisa asks about health and sickness, and Rupert explains that he considers true health to be the recognition of and abidance as our essential nature. We are then in touch with our innate peace and happiness, irrespective of the condition of the body.
In answer to a question about the nature of forgiveness, Rupert suggests that it is found in the place devoid of judgement that lies between our thoughts and feelings. In conclusion, he describes how the words ‘I am’ are the highest form of prayer.
