Most religious and spiritual traditions start with the presumption of separation and gradually work towards the unity of being, whereby the sense of separation may be, in most cases, gradually dissolved and the unity of being revealed. However, if being is our essential nature, why don’t we start there? What is our primary experience? Simply being. However, in most cases, the experience of being is so thoroughly mixed with the content or experience that it seems to be conditioned or qualified by it. It is in response to this forgetting or ignoring of the simple awareness of being that the spiritual traditions elaborate pathways to enable us to return to that innocence. Why travel the world in search of home?
