What is it that knows that we are aware? Only awareness is aware and therefore only awareness can be aware of or know anything. Our knowledge that we are aware, the experience of being aware, is awareness’s experience of itself. The witness’s experience of itself doesn't need to look at itself through thinking or perceiving faculties; it knows itself directly. Imagine that seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling and thinking are absent. You can actually experience awareness’s experience of itself. Without reference to thought there is no experience of time. There is still the experience of being aware but it's not an experience that lasts in time but is eternally present now. Not ‘now’ a moment in time, but ‘now’ eternity, out of time. Feel the experiences of thinking, feeling, sensing and perceiving are all illuminated from the inside, bathed and permeated by the light of knowing, washed clean by the transparency and luminosity of pure knowing.
