What is my most fundamental experience? Simply being. Do I need to do anything to be? Do I have to stop doing anything to be? Does being have to be practised? Can being ever be disturbed, or does it shine quietly behind and within all experience irrespective of its content? Does any experience really ever obscure the shining of being, unless we give it permission to do so? As soon as we withdraw permission, the experience which once seemed to veil being now shines with it. Does the shining of being need to be enlightened? Meditation or prayer is the shining of being – inside as ‘I’, and outside as the world. Balyani said, ‘Whosoever knows their self, knows their Lord’. Whosoever knows the nature of being, knows the ultimate reality of the universe. Let the world be as intimate as ‘I’, and as impersonal as the world. Infinite being, God's being, the only being there is.
