Just as an immersive three-dimensional world appears when the fuzzy two-dimensional cinema screen expands through special glasses, infinite awareness seemingly localises itself as a finite mind through the faculties of perception and conception. Through gradual stripping away of sensory faculties – first seeing, then hearing, tasting, smelling and sensing – we discover that without perceiving and conceiving faculties, awareness remains alone, knowing nothing but itself in the placeless place of eternity. As soon as seeing returns, awareness seemingly steps out of eternity, localising within a body perceiving an outside world; when thinking returns, time unfolds. This localisation is not a mistake but a sacrifice – awareness gives itself so fully to manifestation that it willingly loses itself in it. Yet in the heart of every finite mind remains a wound, a longing to return, which is the gravitational pull of being drawing all individuals back to itself, expressed as our desire for happiness, peace and love.
