The essence of spiritual traditions is revelation (from Latin revelare, ‘to lay bare’) – revealing what you already are. This has nothing to do with becoming enlightened or improving yourself. The spiritual journey is recognition (re-cognition, to know again) of what you’ve always known but sometimes overlook. It’s a return home. Just as space remains unchanged when contained by walls, you remain unlimited when clothed in experience. To believe you need enlightenment is like believing repainting walls affects space. There are no separate beings in reality – only infinite being, which you are without being you.
