In this meditation, if there is an impulse to change experience, we are aware that this is simply one more element in experience. If we think about what we should be doing, we neither follow nor reject that thought. We imagine that thoughts cease as we continue to be aware. Next we imagine that perceptions end. We see nothing, hear nothing, taste nothing, smell nothing and feel nothing. Finally, we imagine images and memories fading. As thoughts, perceptions, feelings, sensations and memories leave us, being aware remains constant. In our fascination with the content of experience, we overlook naked, self-aware being. Now, awareness of being outshines awareness of things. God's being shines in us as our very own being, the only being there is.
