Can you find something in your experience that is, but does not exist? If we are sincerely interested in the question, the mind will come to a natural, effortless end. And in the silence that ensues, that which is will shine by itself. From the point of view of that which truly is, this that ‘I am’, nothing exists (stands out with an identity of its own). Everyone and everything borrow apparent existence from that which truly is. To say that nothing exists is not nihilistic, is not to deny the world. It is to restore the world to its proper place – the shining of being. Everything shines with being, as being, as our self. Just as the mind brings itself to an effortless end by asking ‘what am I prior to experience?’ or ‘what is but does not exist?’, so, a good teaching will bring itself to an end.
