Our approach has two aspects: investigating the nature of self (reality), and just resting in being, as being. At first, there’s more investigation than abiding. As objections and questions are responded to, the mind relaxes. Abiding increases and investigation decreases – the mind’s agitation and sorrow dissolve by exploring and by soaking the mind in being. The background of peace strengthens, infusing continual experience. Circumstances lose their power to take us away from our self. Emotional situations now just pass without leaving a trace. We still engage fully with challenges and difficulties. But imperturbable peace grows within, our constant companion. Be sensitive to any impulse to find, understand, know, achieve, acquire or become something, especially to become enlightened. These are for the mind, not your self. You are already what you’ve longed for. Being in touch with this peace is like effortlessly sharing a perfume by wearing it, or like having an easily caught happiness virus.
