In meditation, we direct attention away from the content of experience to our self. Sounding the divine name, ‘I’, is the portal through which the finite mind passes out of time into eternity, and through which infinite being moves from eternity into time. ‘I’ is the intersection between time and eternity, the separate self and God's being. As finite mind passes through one way, it loses its limitations and stands revealed as God's infinite being. As infinite being passes through the other way, it seems to become a finite mind. Thinking, feeling or restless bodily sensations arise as resistance to subsidence into being. It is like the dissolution, or death, of the separate self. There is only being modulating itself as all existing things without ever ceasing to be itself. Understand this, and everything shines with its reality – peace on the inside, and love on the outside.
