Be very sensitive to the slightest sense of expectation that life or this meditation is going to give us something we long for. Now ask yourself the question, ‘What am I in the absence of any experience?’ We soften the focus of our attention until there is no attention at all and, as a result, the fact of simply being just shines. It is always shining, but we did not notice it because our attention was turned away from it. Don't allow the luminosity of being to be endarkened by experience, and then there will be no need for enlightenment. It does not need to be purified because it was never sullied by experience. It does not need to be stilled because it was never set into motion by experience. It does not need to be healed because it was never wounded by experience. Now forget everything you’ve heard.
