Many traditions recommend early-morning meditating because the peace of deep sleep – simply being – has not yet been veiled. So, it’s only a small step back to simply being. Imagine going back to sleep. Perceptions and sensations depart, and as a result, your experience of world and body. Then thoughts and images (dreaming) leave, and all that remains is aware being. There is no person left even to abide as simply being. In meditation, the mind sleeps whilst being remains awake. If the mind wakes up, interpreting everything according to its limitations, it will construe the peace of simply being as boredom. Don’t escape boredom through thinking, sink deeply into it and find peace at its heart. Being shines brightly inside as the amness of our self, and outside as the isness of things. Don’t let names and forms obscure being. Keep the world transparent. Everything exudes being, shines with being. Everything is only that.
