Meister Eckhart said,‘When I am able to establish myself in nothing, and nothing in myself, uprooting and casting out what is in me, then I can enter into the naked being of God, which is the naked being of the Spirit.’ Having removed all layers of experience – thoughts, images, feelings, and so on – we pass out of the temporary, finite self and stand revealed as infinite being, God's being. A person is a temporary colouring of infinite being. Anything that exists in thought – an atom, planet, universe – does not exist in its own right. It borrows its apparent existence from being, shining as the knowledge ‘I am’. Nothing really exists – no world, no universe, no creation. There is only that which eternally is, colouring itself in form without ever ceasing to be itself. Come to the one who gathers all things into itself. Make that one your home, your world, your love.
