Be sensitive to subtle feelings of expectation or boredom, which indicate our sense of fulfilment is still invested in experience. Searching for enlightenment or longing for God refines our search for happiness and is legitimate in the early stages, however it can become a hindrance, keeping us in a state of seeking. Awareness of being shines as the knowledge ‘I am’ in all experience, uncoloured by experience. In meditation or prayer, we remain as pure uncoloured being. In everyday life, we remain as the same being, coloured but not obscured by experience, until the distinction between meditation or prayer and everyday life diminishes. It is the same ‘I am’ throughout, extending beyond personal experience. Being is the fundamental property of all selves and things, one infinite, indivisible whole. We are that being without needing to be anything else. Occasionally, we feel the impulse to seek or understand, but we can let it subside in being.
