Awareness of being is our natural condition that lies ever-present behind all the states of the mind and the body. Simply being never draws attention to itself but it is always available. The thought ‘I am’ stands at the threshold between the infinite and the finite. It is the portal through which the infinite passes and seems to become limited and finite; it is the same portal through which the finite passes in the opposite direction and is revealed as infinite being. Simply being does not need to be enlightened, because it has never been endarkened. Instead of giving our love and attention exclusively to simply being, we allow the the layers of experience to return and see that it is just the palest colouring of the screen of being. What is the world in the absence of thought and perception? It is simply being.
