Just as a young child ventures into the world while checking back with its mother’s loving presence, we can discover our own nature as the open, loving space of awareness within which all experience arises. This presence, like the unchanging space in a room, has no resistance to any content appearing within it – whether thoughts true or false, feelings kind or unkind, sensations pleasant or painful. Not contained by the body nor located in the world, awareness has no shape, size, age or nationality. It requires no practice or purification, being already inherently peaceful and unconditionally fulfilled. Our only task is to disentangle from experience’s content and recognise our true nature as this ever-present, boundless knowing.
