See that the space-like presence of awareness is intimately one with, but stands free of, all content of experience. Content is always in flux, but awareness is always at rest. The mind need not be stilled. Awareness is by nature at rest, although it assumes all forms of experience. In this approach, we go directly to the peace of awareness, and the mind settles. No body position or mind aptitude is prescribed. As the mind settles down, so does the body – most restlessness of the body is an expression of agitation of the mind. First, we go directly to true nature – the inward-facing path, or Vedantic approach. Mind and body are then infused with true nature’s inherent peaceful qualities – the outward-facing path, or Tantric approach. If we look at content of thoughts, they are powerful. But if we look at substance, they’re empty. Be interested in the substance over the content.
