The Impulse to Seek from the media The Impulse to Seek
Is anything preventing complete peace now? Look deeply for any impulse of seeking or resisting. Whatever we seek must be absent now – hoped for in the future. Yet anything that starts will stop; anything acquired will be lost. True happiness cannot be found in the future. Can you imagine King Lear searching for John Smith, or a wave searching for water? We are like the holidaymaker who, despite having everything – waves, sand, sun – still looks forward to dinner. The journey moves from conventional path to Progressive Path, Direct Path, and finally the Pathless Path. All terminate in resting in being as being. As we stand in being, it seems to expand until revealed as the one infinite being in which the universe appears. Being is that in which everything moves. The mind may alternate between happiness and sorrow, but being always shines, seeking nothing, lacking nothing, at peace.
