Just as when going to sleep we shed clothes and activities, nature removes our experience of the world, body, then thoughts, until we find ourselves all alone in being, where it peaceful and refreshing – meditation follows this process. We sit, shedding worldly activities, then let go of world and body, leaving us with thoughts whilst awake. We sink further, letting go of thoughts until all that remains is being. You remain alone with your self – you have fallen asleep but are wide awake. This wakeful sleep is darkness for the mind because there’s no objective content, but for yourself it is luminous – the light of your being; pure knowing, knowing nothing. When you are all alone, there is no time or space – you stand as the infinite in eternity. This isn’t extraordinary, just your being prior to experience.
