Knowing Only Knows Knowing

All you know of any experience is the knowing of it, just as all you see in any movie is the screen. Check this through your thoughts, feelings, body sensations and perceptions – all you know of them is the knowing of them. Extend this to any being, even to God – knowing only knows knowing. Your knowledge of yourself is the knowing of yourself; all there is to yourself is knowing. This knowing has no subject-object division, no dimensions – it’s infinite. The absence of otherness in this knowing is love. When you believe the world is real as such, that belief confers veiling power on it. Withdraw this belief, and the world which seemed to veil its reality is seen as an appearance of it. Attention comes to rest, poised between inward and outward, and the world shines with the light of pure knowing – it shines with love.
