Normally thoughts, feelings, sensations and perceptions occupy the foreground and being recedes into the background. Meditation is simply the reversal – experiences recede and being emerges into the foreground. Being may be visualised as the still point of the turning world, the motionless centre of all motion. Permit yourself to imagine being as a vast borderless field from which everything emerges, exists, and subsides. Everything that exists stands out from background – landscape from screen, wave from ocean. The screen is the reality of objects; objects are illusions, but not unreal. The world is real but also an illusion – an appearance of pure aware being, yourself. Initially, experience obscures being, necessitating turning away. But once it’s clear all there is to the world is infinite being, why turn away? Nothing veils being because there’s nothing other than being. Don’t go outwards towards the world, don’t go inwards towards the self. Just be as you are.
