The fact of simply being accompanies all experience, irrespective of content. You don’t have to make being happen; it’s your natural condition. You refer to this when you say ‘I am’. You can say ‘I am’ because you know you are. This knowing is your primary experience – what you are before experience is born. All day you say: I am tired, I am 22, I am married. ‘I am’ refers to yourself, the constant in changing experience. In the midst of experience, ‘I am’ quietly shines. Being doesn’t need to meditate, so just be. Sometimes your being is coloured by experience. You always know yourself but not always clearly. To know yourself means knowing your being before it’s qualified. Enlightenment is knowing your being unqualified. If you find involvement, drop it. No experience has power unless you give permission. If you let go of experience, experience lets go of you. Sink deeply into being.
