To Have an Experience Means It's Allowed
Thursday 22 February 2024
For any experience, merely having it implies allowance; our natural state is open, unresisting. Resistance, if present, simply appears within this openness. Embrace all experience with impartial openness, especially the unpleasant ones. Encounter discomfort or intense feelings without resistance. If there’s resistance, or a desire to escape or alter the feeling through this practice, you’re still within the mind’s preferences. Notice this and return to being the open space that allows without preference. Stripped of our distractions from discomfort, only thought remains. Notice if you retreat into thought to avoid discomfort. If so, gently return to openness. True openness answers ‘yes’, embracing all endlessly, like space welcomes all within it. This pure openness doesn’t judge feelings; it simply is. You don’t need to act, just see and embody it. This isn’t Vedantic discrimination; it’s Tantric love, integrating feelings so completely they’re seen as part of you. This process transforms feelings into peace and joy.
