The Mind Can't Go Further Than This

What happens when the knower tries to know itself? It is like the eyes trying to see themselves. This presence of pure knowing cannot separate itself from itself. It is itself. Therefore, it cannot know itself objectively. The knower’s knowledge of itself is the only true knowledge there is about our self, that which knows or experiences. As soon as we know anything about our self, as soon as we ascribe any quality or characteristic to our self, we step out of eternity. God must be. God must know. Because if God or the ultimate reality were not being, then existence would not be possible. If God or the ultimate reality did not know, then experience would not be possible. God is and knows. God's knowledge of itself is nothing from the point of view of the object-knowing mind. It is a kind of divine ignorance. The mind just cannot go further than this.
