Mental Phenomena Are Like Wallpaper

A man questions how mental music and self-narration relate to the teaching that thoughts concern past or future. The constant background activity ensures the mind stays occupied, preventing encounter with emptiness that might lead to discovering true nature. These mental patterns effectively layer experiential space – like adding photographs over wallpaper – ensuring one never faces the bare wall of pure being.
